Fall Fashion

Fall Fashion, the clothing season I love most, is nearly here!!  The Fall Runways showed all sorts of fabulous trends – many very classic and wearable.  Those resonating with me most are Cross Body Stoles, Gray Plaid, Navy Overcoats, Off-the-Shoulder, Pin Stripe Suiting, Shearling Bombers, Statement Fur and Velvet!!

Shown here are runway images.  Below each example is a wearable and affordable example of the trend.  Click on the link for more information or to purchase.

CROSS BODY STOLES

I love a fur accessory and wearing a luxurious stole across your body is a fun and versatile way of using it.  Definitely makes a statement and shows you’ve got confidence.

GRAY PLAID

I will never tire of gray plaid and I am happy to see this classic is hot this Fall!  So many ways to wear – casual, for work, and even dressy and a super wardrobe staple and builder.

NAVY OVERCOAT

Perhaps you already have a navy overcoat – please wear it!!  This is another classic worth having in your wardrobe and since it is on trend for Fall, wear it with everything.

OFF-THE-SHOULDER

This is such a feminine and flattering look.  If you didn’t get a top for Spring and Summer, it’s time to get either a long-sleeved top for Fall or a great dress.

PIN STRIPE SUITING

A sharp and classic fabric – just a pair of slacks or a blazer would be a superb addition to your wardrobe and have you on trend but will work for years.

SHEARLING BOMBER

Fun, fun!!  A chunky and cozy outerwear piece that makes a big statement.  Go faux and save a few bucks.

Stacked Heel Sandals

Stacked Heel Sandals (aka Block Heels) are a Spring Trend I recommend because of their versatility and comfort – and they’re cute!  Stacked heels work with skirts, shorts, pants, dresses and, of course, denim (another hot Spring trend).  They come in many heights providing great options and they are comfortable because the heel offers more surface area for stability.

I’ve selected a few options I think would make great updates to a wardrobe.  They represent different price points but I feel all versatile depending on your personal style.  Click on the link above the photo to learn more about the selection or to purchase – all are available at Nordstrom.

Striped tee with white jeans 3 ways

Shopping my closet,  playing around with pieces in my wardrobe and putting different outfits together is happy time for me.  For Women over 40 the loss of a defined waist starts to become a reality. So using techniques that do not draw attention to the middle, like leaving tops out and choosing jeans that have a high waist, are helpful in camouflaging that area.

Two very basic pieces – a Gap striped relaxed black and white t-shirt and Gap 1969 destructed resolution true-skinny high-rise jeans are combined to create three classic yet different black and white looks.

First is the casual outfit.  I turned up the jeans a bit to create a cuff and mixed the pieces with a black denim jacket, super comfortable Roxy Ventura Crochet slip-on sneakers, my silver Nantucket basket necklace, diamond studs and Chanel sunglasses.

The second is a comfortable day out shopping outfit.  Worn with BP booties from Nordstrom, carrying a red tote from Zara with an Hermes red enamel H bracelet.  Bringing in the pops of red makes the outfit more fun.

Lastly, the dressiest outfit of the three.  Wearing platform heeled sandals by Vince Camuto…

One rainy day or any day, spend a little time picking out a few pieces and mix them with different shoes and accessories and see if you can create one outfit, 3 ways!

Welcome to Cynthia Hudson Style

Hello and Welcome to Cynthia Hudson Style!

I welcome your comments and feedback! (see Speak Your Mind at bottom)  Additionally, “Ask Cynthia” is a feature where I answer your fashion and beauty questions.  Please consider subscribing so you receive my blog into your in-box as I publish posts. (see Sign Up to Keep In Touch at right)

The dress I am wearing in the photos that follow is Madewell’s Flutter-back Overlay Maxi Dress.  I fell in love with the ease, color and comfort of this dress.  And, adore the open, but not too open back.   It is also versatile. By changing up the accessories, makeup and shoes it could work for day or evening. It is available at Madewell stores and at Nordstrom. (click on store names for link to store.)

I accessorized for a casual day event by wearing a beaded bracelet and beaded hoop earrings, as well as, my grandmother’s ring.  Sunglasses are by Chanel.   My lip and nail color are my go-to summer reds: Nail color is Essie in Clambake and Lip Colour is by Laura Mercier in Portofino Red.                                                                              Carola_Muis (3 of 13) Carola_Muis (4 of 13) Carola_Muis (5 of 13) Carola_Muis (6 of 13) Carola_Muis (7 of 13)
